‘Scarface’ And ‘Ghostbusters II’ Actor Harris Yulin Dies At 88 — Cause Confirmed

Famous for his roles in Scarface and Ghostbusters II, Harris Yulin passed away at the age of 88.

The gifted stage and screen actor passed away in New York on Tuesday due to heart arrest.

Sue Leibman, his manager, and his family announced his passing.

He played Judge Stephen Wexler, who famously oversaw the case involving the ghost fighting squad, in Ghostbusters II (1989).

In Scarface (1983), he played Mel Bernstein, a corrupt Miami Police Detective working for drug lord Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia), who tries to extort Tony Montana (Al Pacino).

Born on November 5, 1937, in Los Angeles, Yulin had a prosperous career that lasted more than 60 years.

In 1963, he made his New York theatre debut as the lead in James Saunders’ Next Time I’ll Sing To You.

After making his Broadway debut in Watch on the Rhine in 1980, his theatre work became a mainstay of his career.

Yulin made multiple trips back to Broadway, where she starred in Heda Gabler, The Visit, The Price, and The Diary of Anne Frank.

In the 1971 movie Doc, starring Stacy Keach as Doc Holiday, he played Wyatt Earp in his debut motion picture role.

Clear and Present Danger, Ghostbusters, and Training Day were among the other film roles.

Starring in Star Trek: Deep Space Night, 24, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Entourage, he has enjoyed success on the small screen.

Yulin’s portrayal of Jerome Belasco on the comedy Frasier even earned him a 1996 Primetime Emmy nomination.

More recently, from 2018 to 2018, he starred in 12 episodes of the popular Netflix series Ozark.

His last role was that of Professor Dusselberg in the 2024 movie Omni Loop, which also starred Ayo Edebiri and Mary-Louise Parker.

Yulin spent 1971–72 dating Faye Dunaway.

Actress Gwen Welles was his wife until her death in 1993.

He married Kristen Lowman in 2005, marking his second marriage.
